Valley 2 Cumberland 1
2014-09-20Road trip success with the VMl crew coming from behind to take the Cumberland County Blues 2-1 in the Season opener.
Yep good way to start the year with a 'Roadie' win, I'm sure that made "Rookie' Idol a little easier to listen to on the bus trip home. Well the crew were a little rusty or maybe it was 'bus legs' but once they got going they seemed to have it together other than their usual trouble with the law and having to play short handed, luckily the PK was good and the crew pulled out the win.
New Dman Sean'Little Beaver' Anderson younger brother to Captain Craig "Beaver' Anderson put the VML crew on the board to get them fired up less than 2 mins into the third assisted by another new guy Nathan Jardine and David 'Haysee' Hayes. Sorry to tell ya Capn' Andy' but people seem to like young beaver better than old beaver and a little beaver is nice. The old guy Colin "Wilis' Gillis put the boys up by one just over a minute later assisted by Alex 'Palmolive' Feltmate and Jonathan 'Cheerios' Hunson(Hmmm the even line 10,12,14). From there on the boys held on to win and practiced their penalty kill.... that's hard on the ole ticker.
The 'Hard Hat', for those of you that don't know is given out to the player whom the crew thought deserved it(player of the game kinda thing) and I think for the first time ever it was split between two players: Olafr 'Smiddy' Scmidt who was stellar between the pipes and another newcomer Connor 'Rabbit' Obrien for his work effort and I think he got in a save or two as well.
Rip's 'nod' that would be my pick of the game goes to none other than Sean 'Little Beaver' Anderson on his first VML goal(regular season) welcome aboard. Yep 'Little Beaver' I think we can have a little fun with that 'Handle'. Honourable mentions to 'Smiddy' who was solid between the pipes and Connor Obrien bor playing 'big' to ahre the 'Hard Hat' For those of you that can't follow who I'm talking about here's a list of nick names.
Yes like some of the crew I'm a little rusty and the old nickname list needs some updating, so any help with some 'handles' for these new guys would be appreciated.
