Overall success at the Duck Pond
2012-09-09The Leafs first trip to the Pond in Upper Tantallon may not have put up the numbers they would like to see on the scoreboard it did give the boys some much needed ice time and chance to see whta they needed.
The number one thing required will be some more ice time to get rid of the summertime rust and go through some drills. The boys lost their games 3-2 to the Mariners, 5-0 to the Blazers and 4-1 to the Elks. I did manage to pick up a couple of nicknames for some of the crew. I'm sure we will come up with more as the year goes on. So far I have Knuckles,Slim, Shorty, Nuts, Swainerrrr, Little.. oh wait now that's his name.
I was pretty impressed considering less than two short months ago we didn't even exist with the team being approved by League on July 24th. So hopefully with a lot more hard work by all from the players to the team President the Valley Maple Leafs should be ready to go for their Season home opener at the Appledome in Berwick on September 21st.
Next up the boys are practicing Wednesday night at 9:00 pm at the Kentville Arena.
