Four in a Row

The Valley Maple Leafs continue to valiantly fight for the fourth and final playoff spot in the Fred Fox Division.  They won their fourth consecutive game Friday, to pull with five points of the Queens County team but the Privateers then went home Saturday evening and blanked the Brookfield Elks 6-0 to open up a 7 point advantage once again. However, the Leafs received some good news as the East Hants Penguins cooled off the Cole Harbour Colts 8-3 and as result the Leafs and Colts are separated by only five points with each team having four games remaining, one of them against each other on the final night of the season.

On Firday night, the Leafs started strong as Taylor Brown scored the game’s first goal, 18 seconds into the game, and Peter Drohan followed that up with a power-play goal to put the Leafs ahead 2-0. Connor Barnhill, put the Privateers on the board, before the first period ended.

In the second period Ian Drysdale made it 3-1 Leafs before Barnhill’s second goal but Tristan Bowlby tallied with 2 seconds showing on the clock in the second period to put the Leafs up 4-2 entering the third period,  The Leafs kept going in the second despite giving up 20 shots on goal to Liverpool.  The Privateers held a game advantage of 41-40 but Blake Meech turned in another outstanding game for the Maple Leafs in nets.  

In the third, Barnhill brought the visitors to within a goal at 4-3 before Peter Drohan scored into an empty net for his second marker of the game.  This gives Drohan eight goals in nine games since recently joining the Leafs.
