The Valley Maple Leafs picked up a much needed win Tuesday in Brookfield, after suffering a recent slate of losses. The 6-1 win moved the Leafs back into a playoff position, 1 point ahead of the Liverpool Privateers. The Leafs are now 6-8-0 for 12 points while the Privateers with two games in hand on the Leafs sit at 5-6-1 for 11 points as the teams near the half-way mark in their 2018-2019 season. Tuesday’s game was close until the third period when the Leafs bombarded the Brookfield net with 15 shots while keeping the Elks to 6 and in the process received goals from Conal Lucey, his second of the night, John Chambers and Cody Burghardt. Besides Lucey’s earlier goal in the first period, the Leafs also had markers from Taylor Brown and Stuart Kennie who also picked up a pair of assists. Zachary St. Onge collected three assists for the Leafs.
