Every team experiences a few games they would simply rather forget they were involved in during the course of a season. For the Valley Maple Leafs, their Cape Breton trip over the weekend would be two of those games, as they were thumped 11-2 by the Jr. Miners at the Membertou Sport and Wellness Centre Saturday evening and 8-3 by the Eskasoni Jr. Eagles Sunday afternoon.
The Leafs on Saturday night were simply unable to compete with the Jr. Miners who held period leads of 6-0 and 10-1 while outshooting the Leafs 49-25. The Leafs goals both came on the power-play from Stuart Kennie and Robert MacDonald.

On Sunday after, the Leafs' goalies faced 48 shots at the Dan K. Stevens Arena, as they were outshot by the Eagles 48-33. The Leafs, despite their 33 shots, struggled to put the puck in the net and struggled at the other end in keeping it out. The Eagles held period leads of 3-1 and 7-3. For the Leafs, Stuart Kennie, Kolbi Daniels and Zachary St. Onge scored. It was the Eagles second win of the season while the two losses in Cape Breton dropped the Leafs to a pair of games under .500 at 5-7-0.
